Weekly Update 7th May:

Equality and Diversity Week is now over but we want to carry on giving you the latest news, events, pictures and links to what is happening inside the College and out that involves Equality and Diversity so look out for our weekly blog posts right here. First of all we'd like you to know about a website called EDF that we keep going back to for news and events outside of the College and it's a really great way of keeping up to date with all things E & D. The subjects it covers include Age, Disabilities, Gender, Good relations, Human Rights, Ethnicity, Religion and Sexual Orientation. Click the image below to visit the website.

Secondly this week, we are hosting an event that is taking place this Friday which we will post photographs of in next weeks update. This will involve students from the Colleges Dovestones Department some of whom have severe learning difficulties and disabilities. A bus is going to be coming to the College to help the students learn how to independently catch the bus without the help of a an adult/carer etc. So they will learn the correct amount needed for a ticket, what to ask for when buying a ticket and so on. This is an exciting step for them as many have never done this before. This is all about improving their confidence in situations such as this and also to allow them to be more independent.
