This calendar will give you an idea of all the activities that will be taking place during Equality and Diversity Week at Tameside College and Hyde Clarendon. If you are a student you can sign up for most of these so why not take the opportunity and have some great fun whilst learning what Equality and Diversity is all about.
Throughout the week – Equality and Diversity display and quiz in the Refectory, Bistro serving food from around the world
A group of students have created a display that will be in the Refectory at Tameside College throughout the week. There will also be the chance to take part in a quiz which focuses on Equality and Diversity. The Bistro will also be serving a wide array of food from all around the world including British, African, Polish, Oriental and Asian inspired food
Monday 28th April at Tameside College - Disability Football session
This session is aimed at students with a disability; the
session will be delivered by the Curzon Titans, who are a local team which
takes part in disability football leagues. Appropriate sportswear must be worn
which is jogging pants, T-shirt and trainers etc. The disability football has
been running for approximately five weeks now, every fortnight. They run on
Mondays from 1:15pm - 2:45pm at Tameside College. Participants can then qualify
to play for the local ability counts team Curzon Titans should they be
selected. However, the main focus is to give these students a session on their
own where they can develop at their own pace and have a fantastic time.
Tuesday 29th April - Basic Car Maintenance session at Tameside College
Evonne Whalley from the Motor Vehicle Department will be offering a Basic Car Maintenance session to students on Tuesday 29th April between 12:15pm and 1:15pm at Tameside College. This is open to both genders; however, we would like to encourage as many women as possible to take part. The session will show people how to check tyre pressures, inflate their tyres and how to check their oil and water. Tuesday 29th April at Tameside College and Hyde Clarendon - Guest Speaker, Sylvia Lancaster from the Sophie Lancaster Foundation
We are very fortunate to have been able to arrange a special
talk which will be given by Sylvia Lancaster of the Sophie Lancaster
Foundation. As many of you may remember Sophie was killed by a group of youths
in a park in Bacup in 2007 just for looking different. Sylvia is Sophie’s mum. Take a look at

are a limited number of places for the talk which will take place at Tameside
College on 29th April, 11am – 12pm and at Hyde Clarendon, 1:30pm –
2:30pm. To book a place on the

Wednesday 30th April at Tameside College and Thursday 1st May at Hyde Clarendon - Film screening of Life in a Day
At Tameside College and at Hyde Clarendon there will be a special film screening of
Life in Day – which is a documentary directed by film makers from all over the world
that serves as a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be

Wednesday 30th April at Hyde Clarendon in the Sports Hall- Sitting VolleyballAll students are welcome to take
