Equality and Diversity Week is here!

As you have probably already heard, this week we are holding special events and activities around the College to celebrate Equality and Diversity. The first of many activities taking place was this afternoons disability football session which was held by Curzon Titans, a local disability football team in the Sports Hall. The session was a fantastic success and everyone who was involved really enjoyed it. The session was kicked off by showing the students how to warm up properly for sport, then there were games that involved all kinds of activities such as running and passing the ball and finally a football match that pitted half of the students against the other.

Many of the students who took part have physical or mental disabilities and the session was aimed at helping them to learn at their own pace and to allow them to take part in a fun activity with people of similar abilities. Some of the students could even be selected for the Curzon Titans team which takes part in the local ability counts league for people with disabilities. The session was tiring but looked like great fun and all the students looked like they could of done it all over again afterwards!

Over the coming week we will have lots of updates about other activities so keep an eye out. Tomorrow Sylvia Lancaster from the Sophie Lancaster foundation will be paying us a visit to give a special talk about the charity, the work they do and why they do it which will be taking place in the Courtyard Theatre
